Consignor Information for Preparing, Pricing and Dropping Off you Items

At the Baby Revolution Consignment Sale we accept most current baby and children's items for resale.  The only items we do not accept are used car seats and any item that has been recalled.  Please follow the guidelines for items below.  If you are uncertain about something please e-mail us with any questions you may have.

*Top Sellers*

Here is a list of our top sellers at every sale.  We hope this list will give you more ideas of what to sell.

  • Toys!!  Toys (including puzzles) fly off the shelves.  Please make sure that your toys are thoroughly cleaned (including outdoor toys) when you drop them off.  Package your toys so that they will stay together but also so they can be inspected by shoppers.  For more packaging information and ideas see the "Preparing your Items & Tagging" section.

  • Baby Equipment: Exersaucers, Strollers, Pack 'n Plays, etc.

  • Boutique or Brand Name clothing

  • Items that are priced to sell always sell quickly

Quality

All items must be in new or like new condition and no more than 3 years old .  The quality of items we sell separates us from other consignment sales.  By maintaining high standards we ensure that buyers do not feel like they are shopping at a garage sale or that they have to sift through a lot of lower quality items to find what they are looking for.  We have a double inspection system at drop-off which ensures quality.  If you are unsure of whether to include an item play it safe and leave it out.  Please do not be offended if your item is denied.  Remember, you are a shopper too.  Inspection of items helps us maintain the integrity of our sale.

Season Appropriate Items

For the October sale we accept fall and winter items.  We specifically do not accept:

  • Water toys

  • Maternity Clothing

  • Walmart and Kmart Brand Clothing, regardless of season

  • We no longer accept any nursery bedding or other bedding

  • We do not accept stuffed animals unless they do something (i.e. Tickle Me Elmo is okay)

  • We do not accept car seats.

Large Items

Large items must be fully assembled at drop-off.  You will have as much time and space as you need to assemble your items.  If your item requires a special tool to assemble please make sure to bring that as well.

If your item is too large to physically bring to the sale we can list it in our large item book.  If you have a large item (such as an outdoor play set) please contact us for more information about how to list it.

Batteries

All electronic items must have working batteries in them.

Items That Don't Sell

You have the choice of picking up your items that don't sell or donating them.  Pick-up time is Sunday, October 3, from 5:00-6:00pm.  Items not picked up during this time will be donated to charity.  Please do not show up before pick-up time as our sorting process may not be completed yet and the doors will be locked until 5:00.

Maternity Clothing: We will no longer be selling maternity clothing at our sales.  It does not sell well enough.  However, we will provide a donation box for maternity clothing.  The charities that we work with do have a need for maternity clothing.  Feel free to bring your maternity clothing for donation at drop-off.

Pricing

One of the most frequently asked questions that we get is how to price your items.  Here are some guidelines for pricing.  Keep in mind that you choose the price of your items.  You can follow these guidelines or disregard them if they are not applicable to your item.

  • Research your item.  How much is it brand new?  How much are similar items selling for on Ebay or Criagslist?  All of this information can help you determine what price to set for your item.

  • Price To Sell: Think of yourself as a shopper.  If you saw your item and looked at the price, what price would make you exclaim "What a great deal!"  That is pricing to sell.

  • Describe your item well:  Is your item unique?  Wish you had more space to describe your item?  We encourage our consignors to include as much relevant information as possible on their items.

  • Example: If you are selling a custom made nursery set you can include the details on a separate sheet of paper and attach the paper to the item in addition to the tag.  The more information you can convey to the shopper the better.

  • Group Items Together: Items in sets sell better than single items.  This applies mostly to clothing but it can be applicable to other items as well.

  • Example: Two onesies are more likely to sell as a set for $3 than separately for $2 each

  • 1/2 Off: The last day of our sale is 1/2 off day.  You have the option of discounting your items when you enter them into our system.  We strongly recommend that you opt to discount your items, especially if you are planning on donating them at the end of the sale.  On 1/2 off day discounted items fly off the shelf!

Preparing Your Items for Consignment

Clean Items

First and foremost your items need to be clean.  Clothing should be freshly washed and ironed.  We do not accept clothing with stains, rips, missing buttons or broken zippers.  Toys need to be clean as well.  Often toys come apart and individual pieces can be cleaned.  We highly recommend that you take the extra time to make your items look as good as possible.

Hanging Your Clothing

All clothing must be hung on wire hangers.  No exceptions!  Wire hangers can be bent to accommodate smaller sized clothing or clothing can be pinned to the hanger.  See our guidelines on hanging clothing here.

Packaging Other Items

Any items that have multiple parts must be attached to each other.  You can use anything to accomplish this - ziploc bags, tape, pins, string, etc.  Make sure you are not damaging the item with whatever method you chose.

All items need to be able to be opened and inspected by shoppers.  Do not tape ziploc bags.  If you are concerned about a bag opening you can pin the top of it in the middle.

Bedding should likewise be packaged so it can be opened and inspected.  If you do not have a bedding bag we have found XL ziploc bags to work well for this purpose.

Tagging Information

All items must be entered into our barcoding system.  You need to be a registered consignor to enter items into the system.

Entering and Pricing Your Items

  • Choose the category that best fits your item

  • You have two lines for a description of the item.  Don’t forget to describe your item well.  This is a selling point for buyers.  For example, buyers like to know if the item is new without tags or has a special feature.  This also helps us identify your item in the event that the tag gets separated from the item.

  • The minimum price per item is $2.00.  If an item will not sell for $2.00 alone, make it a set.

Printing Tags

  • All tags must be printed on cardstock.  Hint: Most printers can print on cardstock but some need to be loaded one page at a time.

  • All barcodes must be clearly printed for our scanners to pick them up.  If possible, use a laser printer.  If you are using an ink-jet printer make sure the ink jets have been cleaned and the lines do not look smudged at all!  Please only print on white or off white paper using black ink.  *This step is very important and helps keep our lines moving quickly*

  • Tags print 6 to a page.

  • You can cut the tags using scissors or a scrapbook paper cutter.

  • The tags will include the following information:

    • Your consignor number

    • The size of the item (if applicable)

    • Your two line description

    • The price you set

    • If you want the item discounted on 1/2 off day

    • If you want the item donated or not

Attaching Tags

  • Tags for clothing should be pinned to the hanger, NOT to the clothing.  See below for more detailed information.

  • Tags should be attached to non-clothing items using either a safety pin or clear packing tape.

  • Please only apply tape to the top half of the tag.

  • Tags should be in a prominent, obvious location on the item.

  • If there is one tag for two items the items must be attached.

    • For example: shoes can be tied together or placed in a ziploc bag.

  • Picture Examples:

    • This is a great way to attach shoes

    • Shoes and TightsCombining like items is a good idea - here are shoes and tights are combined.

    • Exersaucer Tags should be in an easy to find location.

    • High Chair An example of a high chair in very good condition.  Please make sure to clean your items well!

    • Diapers Items in separate bags should be attached but please make sure the bags can be opened so the items can be inspected!

    • Crib Set Adding additional information is a great way to communicate with potential buyers.

Clothing Tagging Guidelines

  • Clothing must be hung on a wire hanger (hint: many dry cleaners will give you wire hangers free of charge)

    • Wire hangers can be bent to fit smaller sized clothing.

    • Wire hangers should face to the left when hung.

    • Pants and other items that cannot be hung on a hanger must be attached with safety pins.

  • Tags should be attached to the center of the hanger.  The pin should go through the tag twice.  Please make sure the tag does not fall off the hanger if the hanger is upside down.

  • All clothing must be hung.  No clothing should be in bags.

  • Clothing should be clean, pressed, free of odors and free of stains.  Clothing must be in excellent condition.
